Wyoming Guardianship Corporation Pooled Trust

The Wyoming Guardianship Corporation Pooled Trust was established by Wyoming Guardianship Corporation , a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, in 2005 to develop a supplemental needs trust. The purpose of the trust is to protect a person’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid from being impacted should they receive funds that would make them ineligible for these or other public funds.

The trust is derived from funds that constitute an asset of, or are contributed on behalf of, a person with a disability. These funds may come from various sources including, but not limited to, insurance or personal injury settlements, proceeds from the sale of a house or an inheritance. These funds can be transferred into the pooled trust and become exempt from being considered an asset when determining eligibility for public benefits. Funds in the trust are allocated for the benefit of the beneficiary by the Wyoming Guardianship Corporation Trustee.

The WGC Pooled Trust is a “pooled trust”, an instrument authorized under state and federal law. This means that for investment purposes all beneficiary funds are pooled together, although each person in the trust has a sub-account. Interest earned from the investments is allocated to the sub-accounts monthly based on the amount of funds held for that individual’s benefit.
