Guardianship is a legal process, utilized when a person can no longer make or communicate safe or sound decisions about their person and/or property, or has become susceptible to fraud or undue influence. Because establishing a guardianship may remove considerable rights from an individual, it should only be considered after all alternatives have been proven ineffective or unavailable.
Guardianship is established in a court proceeding.
WGC guardianship services can be offered to adults aged 21 or older.

The Substance Abuse & Mental Health Ombudsman Program, or SAMHOP, acts as an advocate and a systems navigator for individuals who have a substance abuse disorder and/or mental health illness. Our Ombudsman aids in accessing available services and resources, addressing concerns about substance abuse and mental health services, and can answer questions about your rights. Our Ombudsman team can also work with agencies and organizations to assist them in increasing their responsiveness to the individuals they serve who have a substance abuse disorder and/or mental health illness. This program services the entire state of Wyoming and is provided free of charge.
